Tenants are putting thousands of dollars into the hands of the landlord with no return, which in most cases is keeping them in poverty,the Australian property system in not working them, which is about 1/3 of the population, something must change so that everybody gets a chance to make some money, I'm all for no negative gearing and all the other benefits the the landlord gets from the taxpayer.
So your tenant goes to work and gets paid with income tax taken out which goes to the government (who have the power to change the rules if they wanted to) and then the tenants landlord gets some of the tenants tax money aswell. and thats double dipping, this is what you call wedged, not fair
What if the property investment goes bad.(what exactly do you mean?)
The way the system stands the tenant couldn't care less, would you like them to really look after your property and if they did would you give them the amount of money that you claim from the tax ofice to the tenant, no of couse not.
This is about wedging people into poverty, I don't have to have a hair cut if I don't want to, but a roof over my head well thats different.
You are the one who has benefited the most from this property system (capital gains and reduced debt), you didn't make this money because your smart, you got it because of the government and the tenant

You have not saved the taxpayer a cent, you actually cost taxpayers money, its just a common tout by landlords to say how good they are.
Cheaper to have private enterprise involed than the government, so which way do you want it, you get money off the government to help pay for your rental properties, but its not ok for the government to build a house because they will be charged to much.
Government is a parasite and makes nothing, just knows how to spend. what a stupid statement, never herd of privatise the profitable and socialise the losses, so you have never herd of CBA or TLS, theres 2 right there, how about the government stop spending on negative gearing for residential properties, that would stop a lot of government waste
Just remember property prices are what they today because they are proped up by the government
