Sadly this happened to me with a stock about 15 years ago. There was a company, based in Brisbane I think, that would aquire your shares for $0.00 and you paid a small processing/ admin fee so that you could at least then claim the capital loss at tax time.
I haven't been able to find them again but perhaps this is an option for other holders. Not applicable to me anymore.

I hope these guys are banned from holding directorships in Australia.
