If we achieve a close today of say 85 cents, and another miner moves quickly with a hostile takeover bid to take advantage of shareholder dissatisfaction, we might expect a premium of 20% to 25% to the closing price.
That's back over a dollar and if the other parties that have expressed interest then throw their hat into the ring, then there is potential for further gains.
I base my range on Newmont's 23% offer for Newcrest when gold price wasn't flying. Gold Fields' offer for Gold Roads was 28%, while NST for DEG was 38%.
For more optimistic thinkers, BHP for Noront went from 23% to 80% because of competitng offers.
