The announcement stated no new shares have been issued, presumably when a share is purchased in the US that share is being bought from the existing shares on issue. Many US investors would not have international share trading accounts to facilitate investing in ASX stock, having international share accounts also adds another layer of accounting complexities with tax treaties etc. Being able to purchase stock on a US Index and on a US based platform removes a barrier for US investors likely increasing the pool of investors for the shares on issue. Any increase in demand for stock should have upward pressure on price given supply of shares on issue remains the same. How the mechanics of the stock trading on two indexes work i don't really know. Could take a while to gather some steam though This was my interpretation anyway. goodluck.
