@alonso I first came across the Mitford 'books' - as a teenager during my sojourn in England. One was a writer, don't remember which one - and simply thought: 'high-class wealthy snobs' - particularly the Nazi one mystified me - having just seen the tail-end of the wash-up of Nazism in my native country.
I enjoyed the second-hand bookshops of London and suburbs . . . it wasn't that easy to get cheap books in my native country (Austria) - now, I was told yesterday, people give their books to charity.
Shall have to check them Mitford sisters out.
