yes very good point… l am not sure of the exact rule from the ATO.
because l am not sure if the exact rule l am ultra careful l never claim a tax loss for a sold share if l was to buy back the same share if l repurchase the same share within months of the sale. I am too rigid l guess but it’s no big drama not claiming a tax loss.
if the share sale makes a gain then l always pay the extra tax, l don’t get my knickers in a such a twist. if ever in doubt or uncertain - l just don’t ever claim a tax loss l reckon.
