Kalgoorlie-Boulder Mayor Glenn Wilson says Kalgoorlie needs more power and water to “facilitate bigger developments” in the city.
“We need power; we need water,” Mr Wilson told Sky News host Paul Murray.
“Two critical pieces of infrastructure that will better facilitate bigger developments here in the city and for the great goldfields at the same time.
“Our pipeline from Perth can only take so much.
“We’re reliant on an umbilical cord of 500, 600 kilometres for our power. We need that resilience in our region and we also need that to build capability within our city and to grow it at the same time.”
