kanmantoo copper mine to open in december, page-15

Drove out to Kanmantoo on Saturday evening.

Was great to see the site working through the evening with many cars in the car park - maybe 25 - 50 cars.

Work is progressing in two areas - firstly they have started stripping the mine - with what looks like a shovel feeding a steady stream of trucks. Secondly they appear to be working on the processing plant.

Interestingly the processing plant is in a different location to the old processing plant.

Quite like the way they have setup the mine site - its a largely downhill run for the full mine trucks and an uphill run for the obviously lighter empty trucks. Also the mine road and the processing plant are behind the hill and thus further away from the Kanmantoo township.

It looked like there are at least 5 mine trucks working but its hard to see in evening - 3 on queue for the shovel and two moving on the road.

Clearly its full steam ahead at the mine site.

I will go back there sometime soon during the day.
