Nothing to do with polices, it's the market.

Home ownership has long been the Australian dream and it's mostly about having a roof over your head. I was fortunate to have brought a home/house at a young age, encouraged by mum who considered owning a home to be a priority. At the time I gave little thought to it increasing in value and given I paid $38k at the time if some one said it would one day be worth $1m I would have pissed myself laughing. Well that person would have been proven correct.

Again I never brought with the idea value would continue to rise, that it has is a huge bonus.

Most of the 30% that don't own a home have no desire too, I have seen many on this forum argue that renting is a better proposition for various reason.

Yes some of the 30% would love to by a home but feel it's unaffordable, well that is just the market and it's up to them to make home ownership a reality if they really want it.

Not that different to me wanting a boat, the type and size of boat I would like is unaffordable after I consider the maintenance costs
