    Well said Hanrahan,

Stock market is not a zero sum game. And it annoys me to hear these parrots squeaking this nonsense without even knowing what it means.

Commodity and financial futures and CDF's are zero sum game.
FX trading is zero sum game.

Stock market is different, because the most companies we trade ( but not all ) actually build and develop assets with real value. And that should be the fundamental in stock market valuations. Every year there is more value added to economy, railways are build, buildings are build, more services become available and we all benefit more or less.

    Hardly a zero sum.
I suggest this to the people who use this term without knowing what it means.
    LOOK IT UP
    please.

    Example to get you started:
Zero sum game is a friendly game of poker I play with my friends. At the end of the night there is exactly same number of dollars between us, just as we started at the beginning of the night. The distribution is now different but the total number is no more and no less.
