The sharp decline in solar power output—from 18 GW to 5 GW—was a central factor. However, the lack of grid inertia, traditionally provided by rotating machinery in fossil fuel and nuclear plants, exacerbated the collapse. With 70% reliance on inverter-based renewables at the time, Spain's system lacked resilience. Experts argue for urgent investments in battery storage, grid synchronization, and infrastructure modernization to support the growing share of renewables. Not a reason to drive nuclear nuts, but helpful. Will probably drive urgent batteries installation in the short term.... much faster than putting in a nuclear station. Probably help those companies realing from Trump anti everything green policy. (anti human policy I might add)
