Yes, but doesn't that just mean you're cancelling the gains on half (or whatever %) of your longs instead of all of them?And what's the difference between unwinding your shorts (buying shares) when market conditions improve or just... buying shares when market improves.
Still looks like a zero sum game to me.The idea you can make money off both ends of a game at same time has never made sense to me. I don't think the world works that way.
I remain mystified.
