The age of LIC ‘s is over. The cost base for genuine stock pickers is far too high. In reality it’s easier to have a passive ETF. If you have very long periods of bull markets you take away the incentive to have LIC’s - it’s easier and all boats rise when the tide is rising. So now that returns are slowly lowering and if the return is say 3% then giving up 1% means that an ETF should generate a better return. Only when you have a real bear market does it reflect the real stock pickers vs ETF. I can agree with you that GC1 has had a checkered history as an ASX company. I think that small companies and LIC’s under say $150million or maybe even much higher won’t give shareholders liquidity that makes them comfortable to invest. This share is in my basket for probably the next decade and I hope the business keeps slowly kicking goals. The price is irrelevant to me as I am going to take the ride. The dividend yield is good enough to set and firget.
