“All those resources sitting there waiting to be mined. In our modern mining technology times surely we could mine there without damaging native land.”

I completely agree, which is why I don’t understand why AZL wanted to keep drilling the same 4% of its claims on federal (non-Native) land while ignoring the need for more data on the other 96%. It’s almost as if they were looking for an excuse not to start mining, because they knew it wouldn’t succeed.

The best the Hualapai could have hoped for is a 3km buffer zone around their land, to protect the aquifer that feeds the spring. AZL says “There is a green lacustrine lithium bearing horizon that is traceable for over 11km from north to south.” Admittedly, the Hualapai property is in the center of it. But why does AZL avoid exploration of so much of its claim? Is it afraid of the truth, that there’s really not enough lithium there to support mining?

Modern mining technology has made a lot of progress since 2019, when the first drilling was done at Big Sandy. The future may very well be what is happening at Prairie. Now that AZL has the cash to pay Koch its fees, there is hope for that DLE project, along with the others in Canada that have lower market caps and better management.
