..and over the next few weeks, US would tell countries unilaterally what tariffs they would impose, no more deals and negotiation, countries will just have to wear it. Countries will be told, no discussion.
..on this basis, we can only expect other countries to retaliate in their own ways because talks got nowhere.
..market assumptions that tariff fears are over are misguided and over-optimistic.
..maybe insider team is positioning for puts once again. After all, the rally has gone too far without a decent pullback.
TRUMP SAYS U.S. WILL SET TARIFF RATES IN COMING WEEKS
President Trump said the U.S. will unilaterally set tariffs for many countries soon.
Speaking on his Middle East tour, the president said 150 countries were seeking to making a deal, "but you're not able to see that many countries."
He said Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick would tell countries what import duties the U.S. plans to impose. "
So at a certain point over the next two to three weeks, I think Scott and Howard will be sending letters out, essentially telling people- it will be very fair but we will be telling people what they will be paying to do business in the United States," he said.
