Yes CDIs would make sense in such a scenario. I agree that Acadia is small enough that holding Acadia shares would give plenty of exposure to NNZ-2591 potentially upside but such a deal would give holder(s) an exit point at the deal price. Funnily enough the premium between Acadia and Neuren has been higher in recent history because there was a collapse in the AUD compared to USD whilst Neuren hit 12 month lows.
Overall I am not sure whether Acadia will be the end acquirer for Neuren but it's interesting to speculate.
