• US Stocks Erase Losses
  US stocks erased earlier losses as markets continued to assess how the backdrop of growing deficits, high interest rates, and uncertain trade policy may impact corporate returns this year. The S&P 500, Nasdaq 100, and the Dow were slightly higher after having opened the session sharply lower. Moody's downgraded its US sovereign credit rating to mark the last major agency to abandon the triple A rating, among the latest events that sounded the alarm of growing deficit, consistent with the view of the Fed and a portion of the market. In the meantime, President Trump's proposed tax-cut package, which includes hundreds of billions of dollars in new, unfunded tax reductions, was passed over the weekend to extend expansionary fiscal policy but magnify debt concerns.
