I've lived in the UK, France, Germany, SE Asia... Personally speaking I consider myself a citizen of the world. - The French are great to hang out with but they are the laziest of the bunch. 4 hour lunches gets boring after a while. - UK is great if you have money and connections but they are snobs. Weird as we always portray the French are the snobs. - The Germans, Swiss, Austrians, Dutch are nice but the most tribal of the bunch, if you are not in a scene - Work, Sporting Club, Music, Death Metal etc. Dont even bother. The most outdoorsy I find which is my thing. The biggest drunks in the world. Although the Russians and the Arabs will give them a run for the money. Weird you would think it is the French but they generally only take it to the buzz level.
Nothing beats Australia. We are all of the above. It is not perfect by any means but it is the closest to one that I know. Look at the political landscape of any of the countries I said above and they are worse. We are a people of different peoples. We know there are worse places in the world. Generally speaking you don't have to go far tracing the family tree to find out you are descended from a worse time and place and have had to come to Australia because of it.
From the Poms, the Wogs, Asians, Aborigines etc We've all come hear to make the best of it. No worries mate. Bring it on.
