Ah, I think I can see the mistake you're making now, which explains where you're coming from. You're equating total quantity produced with progress. Unfortunately, this is at best avery loose measure of progress, and really is more a sign of incompetence and irresponsibly in the context of AGY.

When they first produced at the rate of around 10% of nameplate, yes, that was some level of progress and proof of concept. Absolutely. When they shut the pilot plant down it was a red flag most of us either fully ignored or didn't even see, or for some of us it was something we cautiously accepted.

When years later they had done nothing more than scaled up the failed design, it was a demonstration of no progress at all. This was the obvious signal to run for the door.

If they had enough money they could continue running either plant or both and producing more powder. By your standards this would be progress, but in reality, the longer they continue without improvement, the stronger the demonstration that they don't actually know how to make any progress and the higher the risk.

Would throwing hundreds of millions of dollars at them allow actual progress? Maybe. We can only speculate. But the big guys with loads of money can answer that question for themselves. AGY can't.

It would actually make much more sense for AGY to go back to the original 500TPA pilot plant if it it still serviceable or maybe build an even smaller one to actually work out how to do it, as cheaply as possible. Once they actually confirm they can do it they can raise funds to build a commercial, functional plant. Their willingness to build a commercial scale plant without knowing how to do it should be seen as a tremendous red flag fkr anyone investing in their next one, which probably won't ever be built anyway.
