The same is said of Buddhism, they claim is that there is no God, higher consciousness in Buddhism.
There are no descriptions of God, there is no understanding of the nature of God so all interpretations, descriptions, names and attributes so long as they are respectful are humanities attempt at conceptualising something that is absolute. An unknowable God takes nothing away from a shared humanity, it is the driver towards a shared humanity which is already dangerously disunited. We used to eat each other, we reduced the homo linage to a single strand, we have waged war over every conceivable slight, so what promotes compassion, respect and harmony when none exists in our natural animalistic state?
Might it not then be a higher power moving us over time from animal to human towards the collective virtues you indicated? The Ubuntu had their own Prophet the equal of Jesus and Baha'u'llah and they seem to have been an enlightened people to receive such an enlightened Message, because such a Message seems to have fallen short in the major religions.
