IMO I don't think that is realistic as they'd end up doing more harm than good for the "experience".
I think at least two years and maybe even three years on Active Duty as a requirement for ANY person wanting to become a member of the House or Senate is more like it.
The USA should have made 4 years active duty or 10 years Reserve duty a requirement for Representatives, Senators, and for office of the President before they could be elected and then we would have had a lot less trouble over the years than we have now.
