The shift also aligns with Rio's goal to diversify its portfolio and strengthen its position in future-facing, ESG-aligned commodities. The current decline in lithium prices is temporary, like any other commodity cycle in mining. When prices recover, Rio Tinto will be well-positioned to benefit from a high-quality assets with a lifespan of over 50+ years. There will be many upward cycles ahead, offering the potential to generate billions in profit from existing production. As prices decline, supply typically contracts because high-cost, small-scale producers are forced out of the market. This benefits large players like Rio Tinto, who can consolidate market share and capitalize when prices rebound.

Sodium ion will only ever represent a small percentage of the battery inventory. Suggesting there's a correlation between Jakob's resignation and the Arcadium acquisition is very flawed.

As for whether the relationship with the Mongolian government played a part, that's a different story.

Also, I would classify the Arcadium assets as a rare, long-life Tier 1 project. Less sold on the Rincon one.

UBS Just Downgraded Lithium Again !!!!

Last time they did it then PLS was $4.5 and now it is $1.24 ... lol

Below screenshot only talks about target for lithium only companies but the background was that they downgraded lithium

Now, go and tell UBS that you worked in tinny mine and did fly in fly out so you know lithium more then UBS

or go and ask question to UBS ... have you done enough research
