The lesson of recent actions by the Ukraine is that we are now living in a world where fighter jets costing a hundred million dollars can get taken out by thousand dollar drones.
For good Defence strategy, nations need to spend less money more intelligently on new drone tech - not spend billions on big ticket items that can be taken out by adversaries at a hundred thousandth the cost.
The US is just trying to stampede other countries into signing onto billion dollar contracts to feed the US's military industrial complex before other nations realize this.
As always - the US's only real interest in Australia is how much cash they can get from us.
