Building the future of the space industry supply chain @satsearch

    2wEdited

Happy to welcome EDGX as a satsearch trusted supplier. Introducing the EDGX DPU, a compact, powerful and modular AI processing system purpose-built for smallsats — and hardened for space. Powered by NVIDIA Jetson Orin NX, this DPU delivers 157 TOPS of AI compute in a <1 kg, 0.5U form factor. Designed for LEO missions, it’s radiation-tested, vibration-qualified, and supports OTA updates for agile in-orbit operations. Features a neuromorphic add-on (BrainChip Akida) for ultra-low-power event-based processing. Supports Dockerized app deployment, with flexible I/O and power modes to match your mission envelope.Applications range from: 5G/6G NTN comms & spectrum monitoring ️ SAR/Optical/Hyperspectral EO Pose estimation for in-orbit servicing Data reduction & cognitive sensingFull specs - https://lnkd.in/giJSpau2”

Just a reminder that the above only came about after Brainchip AKIDA technology did battle with SpiNNaker 2 and came out victorious (happy and glorious - oldies know the rest).

Why is this victory important? Well SpiNNaker is the EU’s love child and is oft cited and used in EU funded research and ESA projects. AKIDA technology coming out on top is a very significant event.

Development of a robust onboard data processing unit using commercial off-the-shelf system-on-chips and neuromorphic co-processors

A paradigm shift for onboard processing in space is currently underway. In the coming years, we will demand more autonomy and flexibility from our satellites. Companies and institutions are exploring novel technologies, such as neuromorphic computing architectures and commercial-of-the-shelf (COTS) options, to cope with that demand. The following paper discusses the ongoing development of a data processing unit (DPU) that combines high-performance System-on-Chips (SoC), such as the NVIDIA Jetson Orin, with neuromorphic Network-on-Chip (NoC) co-processors, such as the BrainChip AKD1000 and AKD1500 or the SpiNNcloud Systems SpiNNaker2. The heterogeneous DPU will withstand harsh space environments through system-level hardening. It will function as a robust, reliable and user-friendly payload processing unit. Its successful integration onboard satellites will unlock a whole new level of potential for onboard algorithms.”
