Tell me what food you would have been able to eat without being poisoned back when CO2 levels were high in the atmosphere and being sequestered for the fossil fuels we use today.
But you are missing the main point. It's the speed of change that's important. The ecosystem can adapt if CO2 levels change slowly. But evolution doesn't work when climate changes this fast over a period of a hundred years.
