The way it appears to me is when the percentage of holdings of these companies goes down its an indication of the shares lent for shorting. The increases are when they close the short by buying which increases their holdings. So for me this is at least a little short covering but why now is anyone's guess. It's happening off and on every month so I don't believe a takeover is in the wind. Just fat cats doing fat cat things IMO.
