Fair point Davy, — I’m not suggesting SM come out swinging and publicly slate the Zimbabwean government. That would obviously be counterproductive.
But there’s a difference between burning bridges and simply being transparent with shareholders.If the delays are because the government is shifting the goalposts — as you've just implied with the PPSA example — then say that.
Frame it diplomatically, sure, but don’t leave shareholders in the dark to fill in the blanks themselves. That silence breeds frustration and conspiracy theories — not confidence.And six years of back and forth with no resolution doesn’t reflect well on anyone. If you're constantly reacting to government indecision, maybe the strategy needs to change. Or maybe the board needs to communicate how they're adapting .End of the day, we're all still here because we believe in the asset. But belief in a resource doesn’t mean blind faith in management. They've got to meet us halfway.
