I’m currently lazing by a swimming pool contemplating life, and what I might do with the proceeds when I eventually reduce my shareholdings in gold mining companies, including NST.

I’ve also been mulling over the recent exchange between Exised and DrRogV3, and for some reason, I feel compelled to say something about it.

Obviously, we are all entitled to our own views, but there is nothing which DrRog said which I thought was in any way inappropriate or objectionable. To the contrary, I agree with everything he said. However, I don’t think I’m posting this comment to say what I have just said.

I think each of us is likely to have been affected in some way by the Covid experience. One of the effects upon me is the loathing I developed for the widespread misuse of certain words and phrases.

My pet hate was (and is) the use of the phrase ‘conspiracy theorist’ to denigrate anyone who expresses an opinion which is either at odds with the mainstream view, or which the listener does not share.

In my experience, the so-called ‘conspiracy theorists’ are generally those people who, in fact, are the most insightful members of our community, or those most capable of clear and critical thought. I’ve long aspired to develop those attributes. I do not respect people being criticised for displaying them.

I feel better for having said that.
