Just a small point, Lithium and most other battery minerals are not classed as a rare earth. Your comment still applies of course because China is attempting to control parts of the supply chain for many rare earths (used for magnets, electronics, glass ect and very important for its military applications) and battery minerals (lithium, nickel, magnesium, cobalt, graphite and others) but they are 2 completely different groups with completely different applications.
