Several reasons...
1 ...Sh1t happens. Someone at the lab can be sick/away and everything gets delayed, likewise with typing all the results into the upgraded model, where Joan and John were ill for a few days, and Karen (I chose that name carefully LOL) had to fill in, where mistakes can be/were made and it has to be redone etc, etc.
2 I prefer to be surprised with the announcement coming earlier than my 'expectations', so allow for a bit of delay in expectations because everything rarely goes according to plan in any business..
