Thanks acees. I didn't realise that the capital cost ($50m) was so high.
On this basis, I agree that they'll struggle to fund the difference between capital cost and grant funding, particularly if the technology has not been proven (my understanding is that the deployment of the Stage 1 test unit, while providing valuable data, wont completely prove/de-risk the technology. The technology can only be considered proven when the pipes and generators have been connected and its providing power to the grid.
On this basis, wouldn't they be better off to build a 1-2 MW demonstration plant, instead of the planned 5 MW?
