I think the situation for SLX is a little different from other uranium stocks being shorted. There is a big player (Cameco) with plenty of cash in whose interest it is to lower the SLX price. Cameco has an option to buy another 25% of GLE at "fair market value".
The issue is how to arrive at fair market value. This will probably be done by some financial institution of Cameco's choosing. THe trouble is the fair market value can be distorted by the approach taken. Biasses are introduced by wearing whatever blinkers give the desired outcome. The normal approach is discounted value of future expected earnings. But this is subject to many unknowns and may be set aside in favour of a comparative market valuation approach. The financial analyst will quickly identify SLX as the ideal instrument for this purpose. A quick summary of the reasoning would proceed along these lines.
SLX holds 50% of GLE, so deduct the value of SLX's other interests and future royalties from GLE and lo and behold you have 50% of the market value of GLE.
Quick and easy. Only trouble is when someone is manipulating the market value of the stock its share market value is no longer "fair market value".
In this manipulation exercise the shorters and manipulators work in each others interest making the situation worse for SLX shareholders.
It suits the manipulators to lump SLX with other uranium plays to discount the value of SLX shares.

I hope SLX board is well aware of of these games. I know many people who have been lead astray by valuers using such tactics simply because the commissioned consultant is a big name financial institution.
