the Kuwait war was about oil and about exerting power. it was a failure on so many levels. particularly the cost to the US economy and national cohesion with the damaged returned troops.
at least Jnr managed to oust Saddam. even though his biggest motive was, imo only, to finish daddy's unfinished business.
I didn't get the impression of much of an anti-war push against Jnr's war, but yes the political debates over Bush Snr were very lively. some protest rallies but nothing like the Vietnam days eh. so little peacenik activity these days with everyone wanting and end to all these so many wars.
