Alexander Jannink worked at Redflex before founding Acusensus and he actually pitched the mobile phone detection concept to them internally. They passed on it. So he left, built it himself, and is now winning major government contracts that Redflex would’ve loved to secure. That alone would sting, and it’s no shock there’s friction here.
If Redflex genuinely believed they had a strong legal case, they’ve had years to act. The fact they’re doing this now just as ACE gains serious traction in AU, NZ, UK, US says more about competitive pressure than legal standing. Classic case of a legacy player watching a former insider out-execute them and take market share.
On disclosure - companies aren’t obligated to report background legal threats - only formal, material actions. ACE disclosed this within days of it appearing in the Federal Court registry. That’s standard.
Should the IPO have named Redflex? Hell yes. But anyone following the company properly knew about this link long ago. It’s been public in industry circles for years. Institutional or serious investors aren’t blindsided by this. The timing almost reinforces how far ACE has come. Redflex is reacting now because they’re being outplayed.
