GW and a few other managers see CR's as a means of increasing the size of the funds almost deciding to share the value with new players. Often its the discount to NTA that is shared - I hate that as its at the expense of existing shareholders - The exact reason why I sold out of BKI. Previously they kept doing placements to grow the size. However here the placement has to be done at what is NTA before tax. I doubt that the placement to wholesale investors didn't cover a reason why it would be attractive to new investors. They must have a plan...
