As Israel begins the massive task of rebuilding homes damaged in the recent Iranian missile attacks, an unexpected offer of help has emerged from China.The Jewish community of Foshan – an industrial hub in Guangdong Province which is known globally for its construction materials industry – has offered assistance in sourcing building materials and labour to support Israel’s national reconstruction campaign in a practical and meaningful way.The Chief Rabbi of Foshan, Rabbi Gadi Luzon, wrote to the head of Israel’s Renovation Contractors Union Eran Siv, emphasising both practical help and heartfelt solidarity:“Given the situation... and our desire to help the people of Israel, we wish to assist with all matters related to sourcing materials for reconstruction.”.While small in size, Foshan’s Jewish community is showing how global Jewish solidarity can translate into real, tangible support when it’s needed most.
