    Yep, 1988 was the inception of the IPCC and, even then, they knew it looked bad and were working hard to warn. Thirty-seven years later and there are still anti-science organisations and fossil fuel and other deluded interests working to mislead public opinion, undermine the science and delay progress.

    It would only be fair if every one of them has assets and people they care about, 'destroyed' being a harsh word, but somewhere down those lines, by floods or fires or super-sized storms. They have put far too many more lives and much more property at risk than needed to be.

    Still, there is plenty to be done, to avoid the worst case becoming the best case again.

    And plenty of good work happening despite those, here and elsewhere, who are operating either without a brain or a conscience. The technology developments are immense. I'd be a little more hopeful than you, bellcurve, that the move to address the problem accelerates much more steeply from here.
