You don't get "convicted" of pedophilia, it's a psychiatric disorder.
Ritter is, however, a child sex offender.
"Neither did he groom any minors"
In the cases we know about, he tried to. Luckily, in the cases we know about, the "kids" he thought he was in contact with were actually Police officers.
Do we think the couple of times he was caught by Police officers were the only times he engaged in, or attempted to engage in, what he believed was the sexual abuse of children? Something to ponder.
