Hi Triage I think they have forward sold all of their crop (whatever that turns out to be). I communicated with the Water Manager sometime ago who said..
"The 4,000 ha is in and growing and the price has been secured per company policy, the river is flowing strongly and looking positive for coming seasons"
I think it is prudent to secure a forward price, obviously in hindsight they would have done better on an open market. Next season, and there will be a few even with a return to draught, they will get higher prices for all their soft commodities. Times are good, they have bought cattle and increased their count of sheep.
I watched landline today and there was a proffesor (forgot name) who said the world is waking up to the fact soft commodity producers are having their day in the sun.
