Trolling through the myriad of information from articles in u.s. papers regarding red light cameras its amazing that they ever got off the ground in the u.s.
The nearest analogy in difficulty would be to take away their guns.The arguments for keeping their arsenals are very similar to their arguments for getting rid of R.L.C. Against their rights.
Obviously there is still some sane officialdom trying to do their best to reduce the national sport of broadsiding at intersections.
One of the main complaints is an increase in rearend smashes at R.L.C. because drivers are pulling up early.(obviously when they see a yellow).Thats a very foolish thing to do.
Then,there is the idea to extend the length of the yellow to allow traffic to clear the intersection and do away with R.L.C. Now we can shoot the intersection at leisure and stuff a couple more cars in the mix.We all know the yellow is for speed up.
They dont even incur a points penalty on their drivers licence.
I didnt come across any council or city officials who have used the system who had a disparaging thing to say about it(systems that work that is).
I have seen the polls that run on the anti R.L.C. sites.always in the negative.Its like asking me if i would like R.L.C. on the intersection at the end of my road.Absolutely not.If i was asked about the highly dangerous intersection down the road which scares the hell out of me every morning,sure why not. Questions not framed that way.

The tsunami has unleashed itself on the North American continent.Another five years R.L.C. will outnumber Mc donalds and just be an accepted part of any traffic system
