"Samah Hadid, 22, Greenacre Human rights advocate Samah Hadid began her voluntary work as a member of Bankstown Council?s Youth Advisory Committee. She was then a member of the National Youth Roundtable working on promoting cultural understanding amongst young Australians. She was selected as a delegate for the Prime Minister?s 2020 Summit, where she pushed for greater support for migrant communities. For seven years she volunteered with the Muslim Women?s Association, building the capacity of young Muslim women. At the age of 22, she is continuing her human rights advocacy while completing her masters in human rights law. In 2009, Samah was selected as the first Australian to complete a Minority Rights Fellowship with the UN Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights. She is currently the Australian Youth Representative to the United Nations, highlighting the voices of Indigenous and vulnerable young Australians, as well as promoting the valuable contribution young people make to our country. Samah was co-author of the book, The Future of Us, discussing Australia?s multicultural identity. Samah is currently setting up an international non-government organisation for minority youth in the Asia Pacific region. She is a great role model for today?s youth and an advocate for interfaith and intercultural dialogue."
