A first step would be to stop immigration. Far less drastic then killing the excess population. Australia has a below replacement fertility rate. If you stopped the huge rate of immigration you would find that Australia's population would slowly decline over time
But it appears Australia's immigration policy is driven to the beat of big businesses' drum about skill shortages. What they really mean is they want more cheap labour.
Plenty of people struggle along on the dole queues who have had their jobs taken by 457 visa holders and new immigrants willing to work for low pay. Don't blame the visa holders or immigrants - it's Government policy that needs changing.
