    Bob,

The worst mistake you can make is to read and try and absorb too much. You end up buying every stock you get a feeling about, and have a garage full of global shop direct and proactiv. I am going to suggest three books that I believe will stand you in good stead to become successful in both blue chips and speculative stocks as you progress. You do not need to spend copious hours on the mechanics of the market, or learning something similar to, "How to buy a fast moving stock and hope it goes higher, buy applying this secret formula backtested to 1955"

    * One up on Wall Street by Peter Lynch

    * Thd Devil Take The Hindmost by Chancellor

    * Winning Habits of Warren Buffet and George Soros by Mark Tier.

You can buy these three books at Book Depositry.uk and pay no postage. Books normally take a week to seven days tops. Customer service is right up there with Foxtel and IINET from all my purchases with them.

My book, "The Green Room, A Guide to speculating on the Australian stock market" was published in 2001 and is a good guide to all sectors of the markets and includes information on opening phases (some of the info outdated), stock selection models, and commentary on the basics of gold, silver, oil, biotechs and daytrading. If you email me at [email protected] I can send you a free copy. Please note I think that there are only three left around the house, and one of my kids has probably signed it. Actually Beechmere has two copies, and might be able to help out.

    Cheers

    Budfox
