Don't forget that many of the trading algorithms are agnostic to any stock;they simply exploit volatility in any stock,but amplify that volatility by trading in the direction of the SP movement.These algorithme have nothing to do with traders seeking to manipulate any particular stock.The trouble is that they can do great damage.The rest of us look at a share price suddenly diving.We think someone must know something so we sell into the decline.The SP collapse picks up momentum,especially with stop losses and margin calls triggered.More of us sell,many because we are forced to.All of this resultant mayhem profits the algorithm architects even more.

They made August 2010 much worse for genuine CDU holders.
