I would argue that it is essential for Australia to join the BRICS countries who are going ahead with massive infrastructure projects and initiatives for their mutual benefit. These countries are trading with each other in their respective currencies and avoiding the unnecessary cost of involving the USD when the USA has nothing to do with their deals.
Australia would begin to sell more of our resources in AUD creating demand for the AUD which would lift it off the lows from where the AUD has been suppressed and downtrodden for decades.
Joining BRICS doesn't mean breaking with the USA or the British, however the only opportunities I see being offered by these countries is more wars so they can hold on to their rapidly declining financial dominance.
It is of great importance to Australia to foster good relationships for trade with our Asian neighbors including India, most of which have either joined BRICS or are in the process of joining BRICS, as this is the region where there will be massive growth over the foreseeable future and Australia needs to be a part of that growth story.
