When my husband was alive we used to travel in the same car to work and I used to marvel how he managed to avoid the traffic lights when they were not in his favour, and take little side-roads to finish up ahead of the crowd. He knew the route, of course, but always managed to get to work in record time (he had to, he always 'overslept').

I didn't know that there were some programmed lights who respond to traffic volume - (maybe here in Perth we don't have them, as I often sit, sometimes late at night, at an empty crossing and wait and wait for the lights to turn.) They are a good thing.

My own pet hate on the road are tailgaters, especially when the speed limit is already high - they don't seem to know about stopping distances - I've learnt a few evasive measures though - move to the other lane, let them have my spot - re-join left a little later.

Power lost at stop/start would be a good thing to re-gain - I guess some of those hybrid cars are good, because they re-charge their battery whilst in stop/go situations.

Anyways, I am still sorting out my lighting dilemma and have received much good advice here - the shops I was going to check out told me on the phone, they were wholesalers and only selling the downlight assembly (MR16(GU10 with transformer) for $160 a pop! - no thanks. LEDcentral seem to have a medium price range: same assembly $50.60

    thankyou all
