Here is a link to view map of the Tarkine out line. Mining in this area is not outlawed. The mines that are currently operating have infrastructure in place. Witch VMS will be using. The minister is working with miners to put in to place the new proposals for mining. It is not law, even if the Tarkine gets World Heritage listing witch it has not, that miners will not be able to operate in the area.
Mineral exploration and mining currently occurs within parts of the Tarkine. The most significant mining operation within the Tarkine region is the Savage River Iron Ore Mine, which is currently managed by Australian Bulk Minerals. The declaration of a Tarkine National Park will have NO impact on current mining leases such as the Savage River Mine, as current leases are cut out of the Park proposal.
