How to pronounce "Niobrara"?
An excellent question that also bugged me for a while (after I got over how to spell it). It certainly isn't intuitive (what language is it? Spanish?)
I recently listened to TB being interviewed via a link put here on hc, so I suggest any audio (this was actually video and only a few days ago - can anyone remember and re-post the link?) with TB doing interviews or a presentation and I feel confident that the "N" word might pop up once or twice!
My recollection was "Nyo-brair-ra"
also I discovered that "Bakken" is not as it appears (to me, at least, with the "a" as in "back") but is "Baaken" with the "a" as in "bark". Has a Dutch kind of sound to it...
Is that what others say?
At BBQs I just say "That humongous and amazingly profitable oilfield that will fund my retirement..."
People usually then instantly reply "Oh! You must be talking about the Bakken and Niobrara fields.....Do you own SSN too?"
