Obviously alot of intelligent posters on the gold forum with the replies received. My original post was meant to indicate what may happen over a time frame of 20 years, this of which no one has a perfect answer! One thing is for sure, with only 5% of the worlds population(usa), and the Asian population contributing a vast majority of the worlds economical growth over that next 20 years, its hard to see the influence of the USA dollar being the same as what it is today! Sorry for the ignorance of ones name, but someone mentioned the USA will do what they have done in the past, innovate their way out of the problem. The last innovation they tried was financial engineering, and with minimal regulatory changes made to limit further innovation of this type, distrust remains. At this stage I'm finding it hard to see where their next innovation will come from. Around 2008 an american analyst suggested innovations in a lower carbon world; problem with that is they are currently way behind china on the use of renewable and low emmission technologies. Time will tell!
