How is demand reduced??
The people renting are already in a home.
You still have the same number of people looking for scarce accommodation.
If every renter purchased every home they are current in...what would happen to rent?
Demand the same, supply now nil
Just say one house in Australia come on the market to rent....rent would be infinity (or just short)
